FO Friday: Blueberries

Remember my Crushed Blueberries yarn and project? It's finally done :-)

It was a really quick hat to knit, and the pattern, Toorie is very easy to start with (although it gets a bit fiddly when it comes to picking up the stitches and I had to frog twice!). The main part only took me a few hours, but I knitted on a large gauge since I struggle to get 22sts/4in in a fingering weight yarn, which means it would be impossible for me to get it using DK ;-)
I'm not upset, it's just the afternoon sun blinding me :-)
As for the yarn it's MCN DK by Lioness Arts and I soooooo love this yarn, it's so soft, squishy, gorgeous and delicious. I adore the colours too and I can't wait to knit up more of her beautiful yarns. The Toorie used up just under 80g of yarn, including the pompoms, so I have enough left for a small headband.
One word of advice though: practise pompoms!! You can see that one of mine is larger than the other, and it's because that when I started making it, I was convinced it would end up too small - so practising with some scrap yarn is a really good idea.

On another crafty, but non-yarny note, I finished this super cute post-it organiser:
You can see the original here

I used A3 white mounting board (bought from Amazon), permanent black marker and old nail polish in hot pink :-) Now I just need some post-it notes to fill it in.

  12. I found your blog through Tami's and I love it! That hat is simply amazing, and going on my list of hats to do right now. I agree about pom-poms, they are so hard to get right!

  13. The goal list board is such a neat idea!!! I ought to do something like it.

I am really bad at pom poms (I've yet to make one that actually looks like a pom pom!), so I clearly need more practice. Actually, I think the hat is cute with one pom slightly larger than the other. I would have thought it was intentional, especially with the way the hat gathers into them!
