Warning: This post contains a lot of pink! :-)
Last year, when I attended my first Knit Nation (hands up who can't wait for the 2013 one!!), I bought my first skein of expensive sock yarn. It is a deliciously soft and springy Sokkusu Original from Socktopus in this beautiful shade of Pinkly:
Isn't it just lush???
After much petting and admiring, I finally decided to put Pink(l)y to some use. I was a bit worried because I only had one skein, so should I run out that would be a disaster. I decided on Holden Shawlette.
However
It is quite small. I like my shawls larger. I decided to add another repeat (or two more) in different colours like this:
After spending about half an hour in a yarn shop, I couldn't find the yarn that would have two shades which are quite similar, so I came back home with this:
Trust a knitter to go and buy something completely different to what she intended to buy.
I still have no yarn to finish the project and I keep looking :-)
As always, check out Tami's Amis for more inspirations!

i'm doing a similar thing at the moment - my shawl will ahve stripes of red and purple. I dyed my yarn - maybe you could try that!!
ReplyDeleteThe shades of pink/purple are a nice idea. omlairs idea to dye the other yarn is great.
ReplyDeleteI just finished a holden and absolutely love it, pity its a gift I will have to make one for myself. Love your pink yarn it definitely suits the pattern.
ReplyDeleteI was going to suggest maybe dyeing the new yarn too ;)
ReplyDeleteThat Artesano does look lovely though…
ReplyDeleteSounds like an excellent excuse to shop for more yarn to me!! You'll find what you want if you keep looking (and perhaps even MORE than you want, that's the best!).
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, that pink is gorgeous! Love your plan for adding more to it, and to your stash I see!
ReplyDeleteStash Enhancement oh my. Both yarns are gorgeous. I love the idea of grading the Holden Shawlette in progressively darker colours and making it a shawl. It will look great.
ReplyDeleteLovely color! Good luck with the shawl.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like exactly the kind of thing I do. You can always find something that's perfect for a different project!
ReplyDeleteThe yarns are all lovely though - good luck finding a match for the pink. It's going to be stunning :)
that is one of my favorite shades of pink! total yarn envy here!
ReplyDeleteI was going to suggest dyeing it too. I might have to make one of those shawls myself.
ReplyDeleteOh that's a bit annoying. I have that same problem with amazingly beautiful one skeins. That's why I usually turn them into hats lol.
ReplyDeleteThe shawlette is lovely though!
I am not a big fan of the color pink, but that yrn is changing my mind!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE that color!!!! :) yummy yummy YUM!
ReplyDeleteThat is a lot of pink! But it's a lovely color!
ReplyDeleteI love pink , don't really wear it though, scared it might make me look like a ghost haha.
ReplyDeleteI do the same. Come home with something different or more than I went to buy.
That pink is super pretty! Good luck finding the colors you need! It'll look great when it's done.
